Next EAP cycle - name suggestions ?

IDEA v4.0 seems to be closing on us so I was thinking about the name for the next EAP cycle. How about "Avalon" ? It also starts with "A", although not taken from the Greek methology but a name of the island somewhere. Seems cute to me ..

I'm suggesting "startgate". How about it?

Oops, me wrong :)
I got on the IntelliTrain at the Ariadna station.

Then what about Lachesis? This is one of the three moirae, the one which
spins the thread of life. (The other two are Clotho - who holds the
fleece and Athropos, who measures and cuts the thread)

I like this, and continuing on the theme of the three fates, I'd like to toss in Ananke (necessity), and Erebus, although that might be a bit too grim and dark (cool name though).

Rhea is quite nice.
And what about "Miranda" ?

(In William Shakespeare's The Tempest, the second daughter of Prospero the
magician)
(it is also the eleventh of Uranus's known satellites)

Hmm, you're right Alexey :(
But after all, it's just a code name, it does not forbid to use an existing
trade mark.

What about "Olesya" or "Katja" or "Laika" (first -female- dog in space;
see http://starchild.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/StarChild/space_level2/laika.html)?

I'd push for anything with "simple" in it :

Simplex
Simple
Simplicity
SimpleA
etc...

, or around the same idea.

It would be
- a promise to the user base, and
- a constant reminder for the developers, and EAP avid pushers.

Hello,

I search for long time of Greek methology in Google and find that "Dione" is
my likely name for next EAP :)

Becouse:
1. Eugene Belayev, CTO of JetBrains have birthday of his daughter in this
year! Her name is Dina :)

2. http://www.messagenet.com/myths/bios/dione.html
"Dione is one of the more mysterious Greek goddesses. Some believe that she
is the personification of a more ancient Mother Goddess (Goddess of the Oak,
from Asia Minor) and that the Greeks simply adopted her into their
pantheon."
As we remember the first version of Java language was called by "Oak". So,
Dione is goddess of the Java, from Sun Minor :))

3. Dione is 12th Saturn's sattelite
http://www.star.ucl.ac.uk/~apod/solarsys/eng/dione.htm, in the neighbourhood
of Rhea (http://www.star.ucl.ac.uk/~apod/solarsys/eng/rhea.htm) suggested by
Eugene above.

4. I like coocuring acoustic pattern of "Dione", but it my private opinion
:)

Thanks!

Why is it neccessary to choose names from mythology?
How about, for exampe, 'revolution'? (Well, shot of cruiser Aurora did
start a revolution) :)

With respect,
Alex Besogonov (alexy@izh.com)

i vote for "Eclipse" - homogeneous with aurora (or is there already any java-app similar to this name?...) :D
