Request: Can the JDK/Library indexing be done asynchronously?

Depending on the system spec, this can take quite a long time - and you cant do anything in IntelliJ untils its done!

Is it possible to make it a background task?

There're far more important things to fix first. Like CVS problems. Besides the library indexing is done only once / installation and it doesn't take that long

It DOES take that long - and it happens every time I use a new build.

(But I agree that there are other important things too - this EAP seems a lot buggier than the last :( )

The point is, upon release you won't be changing builds regularly at
all, so implementing this has no benefit to the final product, therefore
on balance it is not important and never going to happen in the
foreseeable. It may save you a few minutes every release during EAP,
but if you can't spare those minutes, stick to the same build.

Just upgraded from 1080 to 1089. Deleted everything from Idea system folder. Full re-indexing took (exactly) 2 minutes. 2 minutes for each build is not bad at all.

~700..800 project files + jre + other libraries.

P4M 1,6G 512MB.

IDEA.LAX VM options
-server -Xms64m -Xmx64m -Xss64k -XX:CompileThreshold=1500 -Djars.nocopy=true -Didea.no.jdk.check=true
