View External JavaDoc not working

Hi all,

I'm hoping this is quite a straightforward setup problem. I'm using IDA 7.0.4, on a Mac (Leopard; 10.5.6). I'm working with very simple Java application projects created from scratch.

When I go to View>External JavaDoc, I get an error dialog that says:

Cannot show "jar:///System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5/Home/docs.jar!/doc/api/java/io/BufferedInputStream.html#BufferedInputStream(" in external browser

Previously, there was nothing in the /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Resources/Documentation directory. However, I downloaded the JavaDoc zip from Sun's web site, and copied the contents into that Documentation folder. So within Documentation, I now have:

Is there something else I need to do to tell IntelliJ where to find the docs? BTW, I even tried creating a symbolic link at /doc, that points to /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Resources/Documentation, but that didn't work.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Hello Antun,

This means that the Javadoc path in your JDK configuration points to a jar.  Most of web browsers cannot open a document from a jar.
Check Settings / Project settings / JDKs / (your JDK) / JavaDoc Paths. I  presume you can specify new Documentation directory instead of jar.
