"Executing pre-compile tasks..." takes a rediculous amount of time in Intellij IDEA 8

The same this is true for for the "Executing post-compile tasks..." during the compile.  I'm running this on Kubuntu 8.0.4.

This was not a problem with version 6 or 7, in fact I think it was so fast in those version that I never noticed.

I'm using the javac compiler (the eclipse one just produces a million errors), I've tried Intellij 8.0, 8.0.1, and now build #9618.

I've tried these versions of java for running the IDE:

---
java version "1.6.0_07"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 10.0-b23, mixed mode)
---

and

---
java version "1.6.0_11"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_11-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.0-b16, mixed mode)
---

I've also tried switching the 1.6.0_07 (32bit) that I've been using for compiling to the 64bit _11, and that had no affect.  I've removed all unnecessary plugins and have non that were not shipped with Intellij.

Any ideas?  This is killing me.  2 extra minutes for every compile is making me very unhappy.

Oh, and iostat is not reporting a significant amount of work going on during that period, no more that 5k is being written at a time, nothing happening in ram and the CPU sits idle.  It almost seems like there is just an odd timeout built in.

I've also tried removing the ~/.IntelliJIdea80/system directory entirely and allowing it to be rebuilt, again no change.

thanks-

Does anyone know what Intellij is doing in these steps?  I've been trying to strace it, but there are way too many threads to be affective it trying to find anything that way.

Ok, I have deleted the entire ~/.Intellij80 directory and that has finally seemed to resolved the issue.  I don't know what about my config was causing this, but I will post again if it starts happening again.

As of now, it's running great.
