closing modules

Is it possible to close modules?

Within a project Idea indexes all documents available to it. For my setup at work and the project structure, the indexing takes too long.

My colleagues use eclipse. I see that they are able to close projects thereby cloaking the project from eclipse and hence prevent any further indexing which conserves resources.

With Idea, I treat the projects as modules. Now, if there is a feature plan to allow the closure of modules, please let me know and I will wait for that release.

As it is right now, I am at a disadvantage in how I use Intellij. I readily admit that the setup that I wish to employ or is bestowed by the consequences of work may not be optimal but I would point to those users who use eclipse and are very functional in the same context as I am. I do not wish to feel inferior because of my choice of using Intellij. I hope for a solution to this.

Hello Rodrigo,

In the current version of IntelliJ IDEA, there's a plugin which you can use
for this purpose:
http://plugins.intellij.net/plugin/?id=1556

This is tentatively planned for implementation as a core feature, but so
far it looks like it won't make it into the 8.0 release.

I'll take a look at the plugin. Where can I vote for this feature?

That plugin does not work with Intellij 8 M1. When I disable a module it removes it from the project.

It's the expected behavior. Offline modules are displayed in a separate toolwindow
which allows you to re-add them.

i'll just want to mention that it would be great if IDEA can close not only modules but module groups
in that case i will have one project for all my projects (in Windows for all my projects on one logical disk cause content root can be pointed to c:\, not to whole computer) and a lot of working groups organized in tree structure
:)
