*Really* slow error checking of build.xml

Hi,

I have a 1240 line build.xml which never finishes the background error
checking when I open it. I gave up waiting after 3 minutes of 100% CPU
and no change in the error indicator in the top right corner.

Is this just a case of optimizations that will be done sometime, or is
this a bug that I should file?

Ciao,
Gordon

Do you use the latest build? We have 1234 lines build file and it
highlights after recent changes for <10s which seems to be acceptable.

I'm using build 957. I haven't made any changes to the build file. What
I am describing is when I open the file for the first time after opening
the project. Although the same thing happens after making changes.

I did notice that when I opened it again sometime later, it had error
markers in the right margin, but the top right indicator was still grey.

Right. I have 2.6 P IV + Linux (which is a bit faster then Win on IDEA).
But even if your computer 2-3 times slower it's pretty strange that your
file highlighted for 3 minutes... Let's continue our discussion in
Tracker. Submit the bug and we'll try to deal with it. The only
requirement is that you'll provide the example where the highlighting is
slow.

Thanks,

I've submitted a bug, but I can't find out what number it is because the
search/filter system won't return bugs submitted by . I've logged a separate bug on the ITN about that. Ciao, Gordon -- Gordon Tyler (Software Developer) Quest Software ]]>

It adds it to your watches on the actual forum page. Just go there and
click watches and you can track it from there.
