Splitting headache

Using: Build 944
OS: Windows XP Professional

OK, I give up. So how does one split the editor to view two different
files? Supposedly this is a supported feature as of build 939.

Right-click the tab bar, click New xxx Tab Group.

Hmm....I was aware of tab-groups. However I thought that somehow the old
file-splitter functionality (the bar with the up-down arrows) was somehow
modified.

I suppose tab-groups can be used to achieve the same result.

Why does one need the old file-splitter any more?

Because you can't have the smae file in 2 different tab groups. If you
wanted to look at a single file at 2 different locations in the file, you
have to use the old splitter...

Which begs the question, why not? Allowing duplicates could then allow saving and re-opening specific groups, basically covering all the features of the workspaces plugin.
