Hmm....I was aware of tab-groups. However I thought that somehow the old file-splitter functionality (the bar with the up-down arrows) was somehow modified.
I suppose tab-groups can be used to achieve the same result.
Because you can't have the smae file in 2 different tab groups. If you wanted to look at a single file at 2 different locations in the file, you have to use the old splitter...

Which begs the question, why not? Allowing duplicates could then allow saving and re-opening specific groups, basically covering all the features of the workspaces plugin.
Right-click the tab bar, click New xxx Tab Group.
