I guess I will stick with Ariadna for another year...

Yes, as we plan now, this upgrade price will be applied to all Idea
licenses, bought before October 15, 2003. Licences, that are bought after
this date can be upgraded to 4.0 for free.

So, for a first time buyer, a personal license will be 750 USD? Gee, we are kind of getting up near the JBuilder price range. With the corporate spending cutbacks that are taking place in the U.S. I would caution on setting the price too high.

It would be better I think to sell more quantity at a lower cost than to sell fewer at a higher cost.

Just a thought. Had I not purchased IDEA a couple years ago, there is no way I could bring myself to spend 750 USD out of my own pocket...there are limits to how far one would go.

where are you seeing $750? A brand new license is $499. AFAIK there has only been one price increase during the entire existance of idea.

I am seeing it in my bad math and botched calculator entry. I reran the numbers and it comes out to 500 (okay 499 :). Sorry for the alarm. 499 is reasonable. I hope Jetbrains doesn't fine me for slander.

What would be nice is if you PRE-PAY your upgrade, you get it for only $199 :)
