Is it possible to 'work offline' with local VCS?

When performing refactorings like changing a class name, without
connectivity to the cvs server, is it possible to use local vcs to perform
all needed operations once the connectivity is restored?

AFAIK this is not possible when working with CVS since the CVS doesn't support renaming of files and or moving them between directories. When you rename a class the IDEA deletes the old file first and adds the new file after that.

Of course the IDEA could track the changes for you, and commit the changes later. Maybe in the future?

All other changes in the code + new classes are easy. Just add the new classes (in update project report) and commit the changed ones. This is what I do all the time. But I save those annoying class name changes for online editing time.

P.S.
The whole offline thing will vanish in few years... WLAN, UMTS, etc...

That is what I meant. Is this planned?

I filed a request some time back for this:
http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/viewSCR?publicId=12862 . Maybe you
can vote for it. If you are using CVS you can also vote for
http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/viewSCR?publicId=17379 BTW what VCS
are you using? I have built this offline mode in the clearcase plugin
already. It is kind of easy. Maybe you could ask the VCS plugin developer
to do the same?
