"Documentation" Forum Broken (AGAIN)

Once again, the Community forum gives only a stack trace.

Why does JetBrains cling to the atrocious, abominable pile of garbage that is this forum software?

We pay a lot of good money for IDEA and since its documentation remains so lacking, we really rely on the user + developer community to make good use of the software.

We deserve a better forum.

I mistakenly wrote "Community" when I actually meant "Documentation," but that forum has continued to give nothing but a Java stack trace for the past day or more.

Really, why is this allowed to continue?

I don't think the JetBrains principals should be accessing the forums solely via the NNTP feed if it keeps them from seeing the manifest malfunctions on the Web Forum side.

It has now been two days that the Documentation forum is broken, with any and every attempt to access it giving nothing but a Java stack trace.

Can no one fix this?

Hello Randall,

May 1st is a public holiday in Europe (labour day) and most people got an
extra long weekend, probably, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a quick fix,
if I were you.

Best,
Andrei

I have, and will continue to, post once a day pointing out this ongoing malfunction.

As I said, given the paucity of real documentation, the least the vendor can do is keep the community forum working. This forum software is really substandard and, I think, an insult to the people who've purchased licenses for JetBrains' software.

Hi Randall,

I've bought a licence, and I don't feel insulted at all.

It's a shame the forum is again broken (especially since the previous version of the forum didn't have these problems (but now we have 'tags'....cool stuff!!!!!)), it's just bad publicity, just like the spam messages on some of the forums.

I'd say: take a deep breath, get some fresh air, enjoy the sun, and don't worry to much about the Documentation forum. It will get fixed, just wait a short while!

Have a really nice weekend btw!!

I've fixed the forum and cleaned the recent spam messages.

Unfortunately the only options available to us now are either rollback to
the Jive version we had installed previously, or push the Jive developers
to make proper use of transactions in their DB operations so that the integrity
of their DB wouldn't break so often. The NNTP integration we have with Jive
is critical for our efficient work, and we don't currently have the resources
to develop a similar integration for a different forum engine.

I'm only guessing here, but it seems that because you all see the forum from the NNTP side, you're not aware of just how poorly it perform, how badly it malfunctions or even when it's broken.

Just now, in trying to compose this posting, I clicked the "Preview" tab and got a never-ending "wait clock." I had to click Post and the come back and edit it.
