why the run/debug buttons were moved?

I think that it was prettier (and much more easier to use) with these
buttons at the right. Don't you think so?

Maybe, but when you changed run configurations using the dropdown menu
the buttons would move around. This way it's easier to find the run
button immediately after changing to another configuration.

My first impression is that it was dumb to move the run button just because the run configurations changed sizes. I was used to selecting a run configuration and sliding the mouse slightly to the right to run it. It's annoyed me so much I quit using the EAP version at all.

Why not have a toolbar configuration panel so people can put buttons wherever they want them? Then I could put the run button back where it *&#% belongs!

I think the Toolbar Manager plugin can do it for you:

It's bare bones, but I believe it'll work for what you want. I wrote it long ago for Ariadna, but it still works for the Aurora EAPs, I believe.
