could the javadoc specify URL be reinstated?

i'm talking about the specifyURL option - it still exists for the JDK
javadocs but somehow got lost in the transition from 3.0 to Aurora for every
other library - which is really such a time/disk waste - we keep all our
javadocs on a common server and would like to point to them whenever needed.
Would it be possible to bring this feature back, please?
