project structure for svn compare with branch to work

I haven't been able to figure this out yet.

I have a multi-module project and each project has its own directory (is
that the right terminology) in our subversion repository. What does the
file structure need to look like in order for the "svn / compare with
branch" function to work? Does the iml and ipr files need to be in the
project's root directory?

I've gathered that there needs to be a .svn directory there, but I'm not
sure exactly what the convention is and it doesn't seem to be documented.

I think I have figured this out now.

I had to go to the Settings / Version Control / Directory Version
Control Settings tab and remove the entry that was there and add new
entries - one for each module. Everything seems to work now.

Hopefully this information is helpful to somebody else in the future.
