WebStorm always opens system default browser Follow
I'm running WebStorm 11 on Windows 7. The default browser on my Windows is IE, but I want WebStorm to launch Run/Debug configurations using Chrome (so that I can do Node debugging). Whatever I do, WebStorm always opens IE.
I tried the following in Settings > Tools > Web Browsers:
- Uncheck all browsers except for Chrome in the browser list
- Change "Default Browser" drop-down to "First in the list"
- Change "Default Browser" drop-down to "Custom path" and specifying the path to chrome.exe
None of that works. The only way for me to force WebStorm to launch Chrome is to set Chrome as the system default browser, which I don't want to do. Chrome is good as a dev tool, but - to me at least - it's a suboptimal browser.

When does WebStorm run IE? On what action?
BTW, I also have IE set as default system browser, and used Chrome as default for WebStorm. Here are my settings
However, our application uses Gulp to serve pages, and when a page is launched by the script, it always seems to come up with the system browser on your machine.
Browser run from Gulp doesn't depend on WebStorm settings - this can't be controlled by IDE, as the script is executed by Gulp, not by WebStorm. But you can modify your script to run a browser of your choice - see https://github.com/stevelacy/gulp-open, for example
Thank you! I'll try this out!
