How to configure IDEA 6.0.6 to work with Subversion?

Hi

Maybe I'am a little dumb, but I have difficulties to get up and going to configure IDEA 6.0.6 to work with Subversion. In a very short time, we will be moving from a CVS repository to Subversion 1.4. Intuitively I start with Checkout from Version Control in the welcome screen. I chose SVN and then the dialog for entering the repository URL is presented. I type in the URL and for sure the

svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/pu/lfubis/svn_repository'

error is reported. The reason is probably that the command did not get through our proxy.

We use HTTPS on port 80 and have to pass our proxy server. Authentication is given through user/password. I haven't neither figured out where to configure the proxy or the fact that we use a proxy nor where to configure user and password. I hope that it is not true that IntelliJ does not provide direct support for that.

I have installed a demo license of SmartSVN and with this software it was a snap to configure all the necessary stuff to access a SVN repository behind a proxy with username / password authentication.

The help in IntelliJ was no real help, it refers to the subversion doc, but I have no time to read all this material for this test.

Does anyone has some advice? Am I blind?

Thanks and kind regards

Hello Thomas,

IntelliJ IDEA does not provide any UI for editing the Subversion runtime
configuration files. You will need to edit the files directly, as described
in the Subversion book:
http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/ch07.html#svn-ch-7-sect-1

Username/password authentication is supported: you'll get a prompt to enter
your username and password as soon as authentication is requested by the
server.

Also see here for more info:

and feel free to vote for this one:

Finally I found that in some companies http access to svn is not possible at all,
but that using https (if your apache/svn server provides that) is working fine
(because some proxies generally block some types of http commands that svn is using,
but can't of course do so on encrypted connections).
