815: Completely breaks previous IntelliJ configuration

It seems that 815 hoses your older IntelliJ configuration.

I have lost all the JVM's configured. All the configured libraries, all the code styles, colour schemes - the lot. The only thing that survived were my file templates.

Needless to say, I am not clicking my heels with joy.

Was this something that was missed in the Change List?
Is this something that was expected - or is it a bug?

I too lost everything, except my code style (thank god). But it's eap so
it's always expected, and because of this it's wise to keep your aurora
settings in a different directory to your Ariadna ones just so you can
continue to be productive if all hell breaks loose (use
the -Didea.system.path=XXX and -Didea.config.path=XXX in your batch file to
accomplish this).

Not for me. I have lost the configured libraries and so on since this
was supposed to be done differently in the new path system, but I still
have my code style, color scheme, JVM list, and so on. (I upgraded from
Ariadna, though.)

Yes. Plenty. I will post an attachment in a moment.

BTW: I was upgrading from 813... (ie I had no problems with 813).

Perhaps you can help me - I have restored my files for Coding style etc,etc - but IntelliJ is still not picking it up. There must be somewhere else where the selection is defined... (?)

Ignore that last question - I fixed it - I have now managed to restore all my previous settings (phew!).

OK, what happens is this:

When IntelliJ starts up, nothing happens at first. (though sometimes it starts up with an "Internall Error" Dialog - sometimes not)

There usually a stack trace (StartupStackTrace.txt)

The FIRST time that IntelliJ loses window focus, ALL of the *.xml config files in the "config/options" directory get renamed to *.xml~ files. At the same time an error dialog pops up: "Could not save application settings"

CouldNotSaveApplicationSettings1.txt

The SECOND time that IntelliJ loses window focus, all of the *.xml~ files are deleted. (However, the settings are still in memory - if you go to the IDE Options Pane, I can still see "Nick's Coding Style". Restarting IntelliJ obviously puts an end to that - at which point, All settings are hosed.
(No error)

Color Schemes and Key Assignments revert to default, but the original settings can be restored; they are not lost.

Libraries and JDKs do get lost, but that has been mentioned in the release notes.

All the coding style settings are lost (the options file and the settings file are deleted).

BTW: Where in the release notes is mention made of the the library/JDK settings being lost? I saw the reference to the break in compatibility in project files - but that didnt bother me.

There is no such issue there. It's not intended behaviour and should be
filed as a tracker bug request.
