Email notification of new EAP builds?

Is there any way to get an email notification of a new EAP build being available?
This would save checking it every so often.

Alternatively, notification of new postings to the EAP - Announcements forum would be more or less equivalent.

Thanks,
Calum

yes, please. i was too lazy to file a feature request against forums, but that's what should be done. maybe i'll go do it now.. done, but it hasn't shown up yet, so i don't have a number for it.

ok, here's a workaround. i'm going to create 2 new threads in EAP: Aurora EAP Announce, and Ariadne EAP Announce. Everyone who feels like it can watch these topics. When a new EAP is released, someone can reply to the thread, and everyone gets notified. If JetBrains feels like touching these threads when they release, that would be great. Else it's up to us.

Good workaround!

Those of us using this mechanism should make sure that they don't reply to the thread if a reply has already been done for that EAP release - we don't want lots of emails for a single EAP release!

If JetBrains take this on, i.e. to reply to the thread when an update is done, it might make sense for them to move the thread to the EAP Announce forum.

Would it be possible that you IntelliJ guys start two announcement threads in the announcements forum that we could watch?

But the threads are not in the announcements forum and they are not (afaik) maintained by intellij staff.

To have the threads in the logical forum would make it both more clear and a bit more official. I know about these two existing threads, but I bet there's a whole bunch of people who dont.

I just dont see any reasons not having the threads in the announcements forum (updated by the people who actually release the builds). If there are, the current system works for me.

that's right. but it's a problem for you when eap-members update these threads??? they are dependable, too!!!

when you can add news groups, i have the best solution for you till the http://www.intellij.net/tracker/itn/viewSCR?publicId=534 is fixed: you can add the announcements forum with the news( news.intellij.net ). thats how i make it. then you get a e-mail whenever somebody post a message in the announcements forum!!! :)

I did not mean to question the dependability of eap members. The main point was to move the threads to a logical and more visible place. Right now the threads are a little "buried" to the depth of the eap forum.

But as I said earlier, the current system works for me, no problemo.

it's right that the threads are "buried" to the depth of the eap system. but i think you can't add these threads to the announcements forum because in this forum there are only new threads when a new build is avilable. i think that confuses many of the users.

hopfully, JetBrains update as soon as posible to the new version of Jive Forums. Than are all our "problems" solved!!! do you hear me, Eugene??? :)
