What level of BEA support is planned for Aurora...?

I am re-asking this question on ...eap 'coz ...j2ee is less active recently:

I wonder, what's beneath 'BEA support' promise on Aurora project plan?
Do you plan to add such support as we can see in JBuilder with CMP wizards,
database management etc.?
Or only basic support for Weblogic descriptors?
My company is currently facing the choice of consistent IDE for developers
and the detailed description of features would be argument to vote for
Idea...

BEA Weblogic support will include managing weblogic server configurations,
deployment of modules and enterprise apps,
starting/restarting/stopping/debugging of weblogic as well as all those
fancy editors for all the deployment descriptors. What features would you
like to see there as well?

Eugene

By the way... will you publish an application server integration API so we can write plugins for other application servers (j, hint, boss, hint)?

Hi.

First thanks for a greate tool!

Will you support WLS 8.1? The ejbc is depricated and now there is a appc for both web and ejb apps.

Are you using the weblogic.Deployer API for starting/stoping/deploy/undeploy/redeploy etc?

There are also several new Ant task (wlconfig, wldeploy, wlcompile) for compiling/creating new domains/create datasources etc. For this task to
work you need to create your directory structure
acordingly. It would be nice if I could tell IDEA
to create a dir structure for this and also create
ant build file for task like compiling and deployment.

Acording to Bea this new directory structure and new Deployment API and and tasks should make deploy and undeployment more robust and much faster than previous version (I have not yeat tied this).

Thanks
Thomas

There is already something along these lines. Were you not aware of it, or
does it not meet your needs? Have a look at the JBoss integration plugin, at
http://www.intellij.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/JBossIntegration - I've never
used it myself, so I can't comment on it, but you may find it useful.

Hope that helps,
Vil.

+1 to Parent. The current JBoss pluggin also mentioned does not do things like create EJB deployment descriptors etc. It would be great if the API was available to allow for this.

It'd be nice if the api is published before the bea impl is fully done, this is so those of us doing integrations with other appservers can get a head start and provide feedback for the API.

Will it be possible to create CMP mappings to database like you can do in
JBuilder?
