Starting a project in 813 using CVS

Greetings.

After having lived through 809-813 and the problems using CVS, I'm pretty confident that 813 can integrate with CVS to do what I need. However, for a time I turned off my integration, and my repository is no longer worth keeping as it is out of date.

I'd like to restart using CVS on my current project. I've got a project directory with the directory structure I want. I've got a CVS repository already created, but it does not yet have this project in it. I'm on Windows XP, using CVSnt, and I would appreciate some instructions on how to set up CVSnt, IDEA and my project for use.

Some questions I have:

1) Do I need to do an import into CVS to get the project in the repository before IDEA will recognize it?

2) Is there a way to ignore certain directories, such as the "classes" directory?

3) From a broader perspective, I'm using ANT for some build processes, and eventually I would like to automate the process of building my project entirely using just ANT, so that my build script can automatically retrieve the project from the repository and build any version I specify. Are there any hints, pointers, caveats, or other tidbits of information to do this so that I can get a seamless integration with IDEA?

Thanks folks.

What kind of connection method do you use? "ntserver" is not supported at
the moment...

CVSnt is working just fine using the pserver connection.

Ok!
You can use cvs integration with existing project. Select CVS as current VCS
(Project Properties -> VCS Support). Cvsroot and entries will be loaded from
cvs admin directories.
Right now, there is no way to ignore any directories. I am going to use
.cvsignore file to find out ignored files and directories.

Thanks for getting back to me, I did not expect an IntelliJ developer to answer this.

I get the point about setting up the CVS integration the way you suggested; however, I'm trying to figure out whether there's anything I need to do in CVS manually first. As I said, I have removed all the CVS directories from my project directories, and removed the project from the CVS repository. Essentially, I'm treating this as a fresh, new project that never used CVS before.

Do I have to import or will IDEA do this for me?

You can use idea to import project.

Open the project, set cvs as current VCS (I'll fix it... ), select
"cvs->import..." menu item for project root.

To checkout project use Tool->Checkout Project (I'd advise to close project
and delete it from disk before checkout).

Where is there an import option? I only see check in, check out, and update.

Actually, you can ignore that list. I did the import, but CVSnt is not recognizing gzip-file-contents requests, so this issue is moot until I figure out how to configure CVSnt (if I can at all)

I have as yet been able to resolve the problem. Has anyone successfully been able to get the following working:

IDEA 813
Windows XP, SP1
CVSnt

and gotten no errors on import?

If so, how did you do this?
