GitHub ignore files problem

I have a project under github.

In WS there are two config files which although they exist in github the local version are always modified but they are not supposed to be checked back in.

I added them as specific files to ignore, using 'Configure Ignored Files' and adding the two files.

But it makes no difference the two files still show up in the list of local changes.

Is there a way to get these files to be ignored even though they exist in the checked in github project.

TIA
Rob

Have you add these files to gitignore file?

I have been told that I want the equivalent of the git command 'assume-unchanged'

Does this exist in WS or do I have to do this manually in the git shell?
