How about Freemarker support ?

Now that you started working on struts, it would be nice to see Freemarker integration in IDEA imo, it's used more and more, Webwork uses it, Spring uses it,Struts 2 will use it etc...

I think it's time to get IDEA working with freemarker tags natively. At the moment, there is no IDE with a decent HTML editor which support it. Eclipse got a nice plugin but you loose all the benefits of Myeclipse HTML editor.

There is really a demand for this stuff guys and i am very positive it will worth it.

Oh, I second this and so would everyone on our team. We (Jive Software) are switching the main display technology from jsp to freemarker for our products however the largest drawback to this decision is the lack of support for FM in IDEA.

Sure would be nice to have :)

I was looking at writing a plug-in for Freemarker, but was highly disenchanted with the plug-in documentation and the apparent lack of support for extending existing languages (ie. HTML and JSP).

However, I may have another look at this when I get a moment because it would help my work with WebWork :)

In the meantime, using the alternate syntax and setting FTL to HTML at least gives us HTML syntax highlighting around the FTL markup.

Actually, the largest drawback is the fact that freemarker templates look like gibberish and that it has no mindshare.

Try to add language support for it as a plugin, and when you run into issues ask the idea people to fix THOSE, instead of asking them to waste their time supporting yet another random properietory API that'll be an evolutionary dead end in a couple of years.
