Performance on linux

Hello great developers from JetBrains,

I'd like to ask if there is any chance of increasing performance of the newest PhpStorm, because it uses 30% of my 4GB memory.

I'd appreciate if someone could help me to improve this awesome IDE.

I use:
HP Pavilion dv6 with Intel Core i5, 2x(4x)~2.36GHz and 4GB of memory
     Lubuntu 14.04.1
I also use Chrome with only few tabs opened and music player
     I use JDK 1.8:

java version "1.8.0_31" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_31-b13) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.31-b07, mixed mode)

     and dual monitor

I know it starts with only around 400MB memory (btw. same as virtual memory).
I tried to edit vmoptions (by some blog posts somewhere) and its content is now:

-server -Xms64m -Xmx700m -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=512m -ea -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Djsse.enableSNIExtension=false -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=50 -Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=lcd

I use PhpStorm for daily use at work and I need to have it running nearly all day, but as longer I work, it consumes more memory up to around 1GB (and even more).

Thanks for any advise.

I respect your work, guys.

Lukas

Please capture the CPU snapshot instead of the memory one:
start the snapshot, type something, make some actions in IDE(at least for a minute), then stop the snapshot: https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/entries/29983118.

Also I can recommend you to use default vmoptions and never change XMS value: https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/entries/23395793-Configuring-JVM-options-and-platform-properties

Ok, I tried what you said and there is CPU Snapshot.

PS: Thank you for quick reply.
