Jump to Navigation Bar Issue

Hello,

I am evaluating the PhpStorm product, and have a very weird issue when I try to use the 'Jump to Navigation Bar' ( ALT + HOME ) in my Laravel Project.

  • I can get the first instance.  I can navigate the navigation bar using my arrow keys, then I can hit ENTER on the desired folder.
    • jtnb_first_instance.png
  • This opens the next instance of the navigation bar - which is a dropdown of the folders within the selected one.
    • jtnb_second_instance.png
  • The problem arises when I try to select anything after this.  Regardless of what I choose ( hit ENTER on ), then next selection, opens a new dropdown, and then immdiately disappears ( I managed to get this shot before it disappeared ).
    • jtnb_third_instance.png

I can assure that I am not double hitting keys and it is not the folder, as I have tried several.  Again I am only using the ARROW ( , , ,   ) and ENTER keys.  Am I doing this wrong?  Or is this a bug I should report?

On a side note:  I really am enjoying PhpStorm.  I love the flexability, customization options, remote server | database | ssh access and a plethora of other reasons.  As an Adobe CS user for the last 10 years, I am happy to say, that I will be purchasing this IDE towards the end of my Evaluation period.

Thanks in advanced!

Regards,

Hi there,

Please try v8.0.3 EAP build -- it should be fixed there -- https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-90564

Andriy,

Thank you!  That did it.

Although, I've got to ask; where did you find this information, because I have been looking for 2 days now?  I even looked through the bug reports, in the bug tracker.

This also begs the question; Should I always use the EAP build?

Thanks again, that was driving me batty! :p ( I marked your answer, as the correct answer )

In Issue Tracker

It's up to you.

You are using EAP builds at your own risk (although at this stage (where builds are for minor  x.x.x version) they are stable as official releases -- at least I'm using them with no issues). Builds for major version (e.g. 9.0 EAP) will not be that stable -- simple because of new / not-yet-optimised stuff in it which may produce different side effects -- slow execution etc etc)

Man, I checked in there.  Guess I will have to look a bit harder next.  Thank you so much for the help, and the information!

I guess it's all about right keywords:

https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/WI?q=navigation+bar ---> https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WI-24369 or https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WI-26282 or https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WI-25235

Each of those tickets is marked as duplicate of https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-90564

This way we've traveled from PhpStorm project/section to IDEA project/section which is home for all such general tickets that affect all IDEA-based products
