a972.g.akamai.net

My traffic is tracked by my bosses. So why subj is visible instead of "intellij.com" when i downloading new build.
I do not want to explain them that a972.g.akamai.net is in actual fact intellij rather than porno site ;)
Could you fix it, please ?

I have the same trouble here. We have 200MB per month download traffic
free. Domains with content necessary for work are filtered out. The
intelliJ domains are filtered out, but my admin doesn't want to filter
akamai.net, because there is much more to download than IDEA.

However, this seems to be how the IntelliJ team has solved the download
problems issue. I'd rather explain it than wait a day to download the
new EAP build b/c I had to try 500 times to download it without server busy.

Explanation doen't help. akamai.net seems to be a server of Tucows. No
administrator would permit full download privileges for a Tucows server.
I never had problems to download IDEA before. GetRight did it for me.
In my opinion they should reconnect there own servers and use the
akamai-Server as a mirror. So one could decide where to download.

Akamai is not a Tucows server. Tucows uses it for some downloads instead.
Akamai is used for downloads by Microsoft, Lycos, Wired etc.

That doesn't make it much easier for me to argue.
"It's not just Tucows, but also Microsoft, Lycos, ..." Do you get the point?

BTW. My domain lookup said something different.

Akamai is a well-known internet infrastructure company. They have servers
all over the world to allow users to download from the nearest and/or
fastest server.

See more at http://www.akamai.com/

(BTW, I feel your pain. I used to work at a company that allowed internet
access to only a select few people.)

This is because the change to Akamai was fairly recent.

In my opinion they should reconnect there own servers and use the
akamai-Server as a mirror. So one could decide where to download.

That seems like a reasonable suggestion.

Any IT person doing internet filtering who doesn't know what Akamai is
should not be in that job.

The Akamai URL looks for e.g. like this:
http://a972.g.akamai.net/7/972/8166/v0001/jetbrains.download.akamai.com/8166/idea/idea672.zip

They should be able to allow Akamai URLs that include
"jetbrains.download..." in them.
