JS IDE/Editor -- Marketing

Somebody on this forum recently argued for adding Ruby On Rails support
and marketing to that audience. Oh but that is an experiment that is
marketing to an as yet new and uncertain market (and requires a
non-existent feature to boot)

So maybe how about adding really good javascript support and marketing to
that audience? Oh hey, you guys already have really kick-ass javascript
support.
How much would it cost you to get paid placement in google when I search
for "javascript editor" or "javascript IDE"? Right now if you search on
google you find several products and none of them have the kind of
javascript support provided in IDEA! Now you might still have a price
point problem in the javascript audience (eg the most expensive javascript
editor I found was $46) but that could be handled I think.

just a thought....

Already talked about this a while back.

We're using Bindows, so we don't need anything but good JS support (5.1
and Demetra especially already go a long way.)

Recently, someone suggested adding Ruby on Rails support and marketing to that niche. But honestly, that's risky since it's an emerging market and would require features that don’t even exist yet.

Why not instead enhance your fantastic JavaScript support and market to that crowd? When you search for 'JavaScript editor' or 'JavaScript IDE,' there are many options out there, but none offer the level of JavaScript support that IDEA does!

There may be some pricing challenges with the JavaScript audience—most high-quality editors are under $50—but that’s something that can definitely be worked on. Just a thought
