External CVS Client

I've hunted the archives, but have not found a precise answer.

We use CVSNT for our repository. I realize that IDEA doesn't integrate with cvsnt, but is it possible to set up an external, command-line client for use?

As far as I know, CVSNT is just CVS on Windows. I've used IDEA with
CVSNT using the built-in CVS support of IDEA.

Unfortunately this is not correct any more. CVSNT and GNU CVS diverge very
fast (see http://www.cvsnt.com/cvspro/compare.htm). If you don't use
CVSNT-only features, you can use IDEA (or SmartCVS) for it. But if you are
using CVSNT-only features like special authentication types or "unicode"
files, IDEA most likely will not support it.

I normally use IDEA's built in CVS support to communicate with CVSNT, and I also used TortoiseCVS. They work together quite well.
