javadoc integration failed - why?

hello,

I use Idea 4.5.3 @Win2k.

In a Web Module the help (shift+F1) for something from the JSP- or Servlet-API does not work:

"The documentation for this element is not found. Please add all the needed paths to API docs in Project Settings."

At both File / Settings / Project Settings / Paths / Javadoc and File / Settings / IDE Settings / JDK & Global Libraries / JavaDoc API Paths I tried 6 different things (jsp-api alone, servlet-api alone, both together, both together as zip, http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/, http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/index.html) - together and seperately. I always chose the directory where the index.html is (which has the subdirectory javax).

One more thing is worth to be mentioned: When I tried to have the URL there shiftF1 still did not work for real JSP- and Servlet-API elements (same error message as before), but shiftF1 on "doStartTag" in this context:

public class Tag1 extends TagSupport {
public int doStartTag() throws JspException {

tried to open a url at the sun website for the Tag1 documentation (without success of course; 404 or something like that shown in my browser then).

ctrlQ works as much as usual when only the compiled file is available to IDEA rather than the real source. Clicking the arrow-up-icon in the ctrlQ-Dialog shows the same error message as shift+F1.

I already tried to remove ALL javadoc sources from both IDE and project settings, including the JDK-doc, and set it up again. That did not change anything.

The core api doc works fine when I put the path in the appropriate place.

What shall I do?

You are adding Javadoc API paths to the wrong place, please use Attach JavaDoc
button for the library you want to watch documentation for.
