Intellij pauses when I save

Any IDEA (heh) why intellij would pause when I save? It takes about a second or two, sometimes up to 5. It's pretty annoying, esp b/c I like to save so much. I'm running Intellij 4.5.4 on Linux. I have local history turned on... would that cause it?

I'm looking for any suggestions here. This is becoming really annoying.
