keeping idea from stealing focus from other apps

when i open idea (knowing i have a couple of minutes before it actually opens up) i usually start my email reader, not wishing to watch idea get things ready, parse the files, etc. however, during its start-up idea brings its window to the top, taking focus from other apps at least 5-6 times, while it is still not ready to allow me to work. i could live with it jumping on top onceeverything_is_ready_ (even though i would still feel it is my business what app i am working with, not idea's)

I can't find any configuration options that control this behavior, does anyone know of any tricks that could serve as workarounds?

thank you

What version of IDEA and what OS do you use? This should be fixed for the latest Irida builds
on the Windows (NT,2K,XP) platform. It doesn't seem like JB are gonna include this with 4.5.4
though, but it would be possible to make the solution run with 4.5.x as well.

You should also try what is suggested here: http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/viewSCR?publicId=8181
but for some people this doesn't seem to reliably fix the problem.

This has been discussed extensively on the IDEA forums. You can search the
forums for focus stealing to see the discussion. For now, if you're on Windows,
there's a Tweak UI setting which prevents any application from stealing focus,
which works for some people. Otherwise you'll have to wait.
