Where can I find the nntp gateway to this forum?

news://news.jetbrains.com/jetbrains.intellij.community

negative impression:

  • after posting the above question, 2 jetbrains employees have posted to this forum here (in another thread), without answering to my question.

  • the nntp access is not mentioned in the jetbrains html-forum section.

*cannot post a message via nntp (am I doing something wrong?)

  • existence of nntp access should be mentioned in the html forum pages

-

missleading:
if someone has his setup his mail as "invisible" in the forum, he appears in the nntp newsgroup with the email "no_mail@jetbrains.com", which looks like he works at jetbrains.

Use your online user/password in the nntp connection settings to be allowed
to post.

Use your online user/password in the nntp connection
settings to be allowed to post.

the eclipse newsserver has requested my user/password.

jetbrains newsserver has not.

I have no idea where to enter this information (I use mozilla firefox (www.mozilla.org).

Can one provide more precise information?

possibly a document which explains this?

Access to the intellij news server is allowed both with and without password.
Without password, you can't post.

I have no idea where to enter this information (I use mozilla firefox
(www.mozilla.org).

Sorry, no can do. I'm using Opera as browser and Omea as news reader. You
should post/look in a firefox list for this info.

In plain old Mozilla, it's in Edit / Mail & Newsgroup account settings /
]]> / Server settings / Always request
authentication. If you use Thunderbird I don't know where it is.

In plain old Mozilla, it's in Edit / Mail & Newsgroup
account settings /
<the Jetbrains news server> / Server settings /
Always request
authentication. If you use Thunderbird I don't know
where it is.

It's in the same location.

I've already tried this, but I get and "Authentication Error" (I am sure that I use the correct data).

ok, thank you.

possibly a jetbrains employee can help out - as I see the used "jive-forums" is a commercial solution.

jetBrains should really provide a link for information of how to use it.

From the original security posting from Sergey Zhukov:

Hello, Everybody !

In order to protect our NEWS server from spam we have applied the simple
authentication to our server.
Currently you can read our news without any authentication, but if you

need

to post to our newsgroups you should use name "jbuser" and any password

(for

example "jbpassword") in your NEWS client program.

You could try using "jbuser to" authenticate.

IIRC, it was soon after that authentication with the forum user become possible.

No it shouldn't. There are many news readers around and Jetbrains can't and
shouldn't document how to use them.

The only thing it should do is place more proeminently the newsgroup link
(now somewhat hidden in the EAP page), add the info that post access is authenticated
and the authentication details (user and password).

you are of course right.

but the makers of "jive forums" could document say the 5 most important
ones.

The only thing it should do is place more proeminently the newsgroup
link (now somewhat hidden in the EAP page), add the info that post
access is authenticated and the authentication details (user and password).

yes, this would be enouth.

As provided is another message from you:

User: jbuser
Pass: jbpassword
