How to schedule a file for adding to the VCS

I am running into a problem when creating or importing new files, status color of the file goes brown. I had a look at the file status highlights help page and it states the following "File exists locally, but is not in the repository, and is not scheduled for adding." which is great but I doesn't tell you have to rectify this at all. How to schedule a file for adding? I have followed the suggestion but the "Add to VCS" is greyed out, and the files I wont to add arn't appearing in the changes window. Any ideas?

Looks strange. New files shouls have 'Add' enabled in vcs menu and should be listed as unversionedFiles in Changes view.
What VC do you use? Can you attach a screenshot of your project tree (in the project tool window)?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I am using Mecurial.

I have attached a screen shot of the greyed out menu items, but I have refrained from including one of the changes window (as it contains some unversioned files with company names etc etc) but I assure you that any new files I create are not showing up there.

I have just moved to from 7.0 to 7.1.2, and I have had some other strange errors as well. Maybe a reinstall would fix it? or deleting the workspace.xml? The only reason I haven't done so yet is that I haven't been bothered to find out how to backup my live templates, and that the upgrade should have work smoothly IMO; I want to find out exactly what went wrong so I can inform the bug trackers.

Thanks for your time.
