Shouldn't it be easier to set-up servers (esp tomcat)?

You create your project and set your exploded directory. You also
picked the application server.

Why do we then have to select a run configuration (which also forces us
to pick the application server again).

Does it make sense to be able to have your application servers
configured (like they already are), then you pick them from a list?
However, the run configurations should be able to carried over from
project to project.

I think the weirdness in the run configuration is because it is designed
for applications which always have totally unique information. There
needs to be a separate button that starts your server up in debug mode
(if you have a webapp configured).

Does this make sense?

P.S. I'm tired of recreating run configurations for the same server for
every new prototype I have to make.

Not only for every new prototype, but for every dang module we need to run
the server with.

I should be able to make a run config, and just tell idea to run my module
with my run config. Changing run configs can change app server, or app
server config. Run config shouldn't be module dependant I think unless you
want it to be.
