everything deleted part 2

Hello all.  Two years ago I opened a thread about phpstorm somehow deleting all files in a project (http://devnet.jetbrains.com/thread/305724?tstart=0).

This happened again to me last night, and to a colleague a few months ago.  This is a real issue, and not an accidental hitting of delete followed by
a subsequent accidental confirmation.  The local history was preserved, but, I can't help but wonder who else has experienced this issue...

Hi there,

So far I remember only one post on this forum with such "suddenly everything got deleted" description .. and it seems to be your post.

1) Please check your idea.log for possible details (Help | Show log in...)
2) Provide a bit more details: what did you do before that; what files have been deleted (like ALL, including project config as well? or what) ; is it the same hardware you are using; what OS (is it the same as last time or it was upgraded/reinstalled); any Antivirus software; any symbolic links etc
3) Can you do a search on your disk for those files. I mean -- maybe they somehow got moved elsewhere?

According to the local history, the files were removed at 5:54pm.  I should note, I was not at my desk when it ocurred, and my system was locked.  Here
is what happened around that time in the log:

There are two folders remaining in the project, the .idea/ & .svn/, everything else was removed.

I am using a different physical computer.  The first time this happened it was on a local drive, this time on a network drive.

I am using Ubuntu 11.04, and was using the same one last time.

Unfortunately, a search for those files isn't really practical.  This project probably has 2000 branches copied on that disk.

I'm not a dev to give you 100% answer (why it was deleted etc) .. but accordingly to your log the IDE was just starting up (why it was restarted? did it crashed or was it normal restart (need to see the log)).

My only suggestion right now: submit new ticket to the Issue Tracker describing everything in details and attach your idea.log file (you can make attachments visible to devs only, if desired).

BTW -- what IDE and version do you use exactly (Help | About)?

Thanks, I'll open a ticket for them.  The version I am using is 4.0.2, build #PS-117.501.  I'm pretty sure its
the same version I was using at home when it happened as well.

Hold on with that.

The version I am using is 4.0.2, build #PS-117.501.  I'm pretty sure its the same version I was using at home when it happened as well.

That's a bit of a problem here -- devs will simply reject your ticket as this version is way too old now (latest version is 7.1.2; and they already have started working on v8)

If issue is reproducible with current version then yes -- ticket is welcome. Otherwise what's the point for the ticket if it (the possible reason for your issue) is not there any more (regardless of what happened) as there will be no patch released for your version.
