How to use "create feature branch" when starting a task

Hi, I am using the tasks integartion with Jira and can start tasks with new change lists, but checking the "create feature branch" box doesn't seem to do anything. I suspect it has something to do with the ide not knowing which repo (we have multiple per project) or branch to branch from. Is this branch/repo linkage something that is generally provided by the issue tracker as part of the issue or is there some other trick to getting it to work?
