When using sshfs, refresh in the log git viewer commits stuck on Loading

I am using sshfs to connect to a project which includes a .git repo. However when I click on refresh in the log git viewer the last few branches are stuck on Loading.

Closing WS and restarting fixes the issue

any ideas?
