license question

My employer purchased the basic 1-20 user license. Yet if 2 machine are running IDEA , one will say that there is a duplicate license problem and will shut down. Is this a config issue or do I need to call my salesperson?

Hello Vincent,

are running IDEA , one will say that there is a duplicate license
problem and will shut down. Is this a config issue or do I need to
call my salesperson?

Are you using a license server? Does each box have its own license, if yes, then two boxes have an identical license. If you have a "site" or "bulk license" (I didn't know we even had them) ... is it just one computer doing it? Unplug that computer from the network -- do any other computers then throw that same error? Otherwise, open a support issue and give them more details.

The message should tell you which computer the duplicate license was
detected on. Make sure that all computers have unique license keys
assigned to them. If you have 5 users, you need 5 licenses.

OK, Im more confused now. I'm put in a call to Intellij, waiting for a call back. Looking at my invoice it says:
"Promo Online volume license 1-19 users"
So how do I assign an individual license to each machine?
I only recieved 1 key if I remember correctly.

You sure you didn't buy the 1-19 user license pricing, but only ONE user
license? Meaning had you bought more than 20 licenses then the price
would have been less. The pricing is based on the number of users, so
you bought 1, which puts you in the 1-19 price.

ahh, that may be it then. I wonder if I can get the boss to give me a separate licence for my laptop? Hmmm.
Thanks

As long as you don't use the laptop concurrently with your other IDEA
installation, you don't need a separate license. The restriction is that
two installations of IDEA running simultaneously on the same network is
not allowed unless they have unique keys. If you are running them
separately and not simultaneously, there's no problem.

When I buy commercial licenses for my development team, JetBrains sends my a key for EACH license.
