Intellij forums are a source for SPAM!

Over the last few weeks I've recieved a ton of Nigerian mail spams at an otherwise spam-free email address that I have maintained for a while. The spammers were not smart enough to BCC their address list, though, and there are a very large number of "intellij.com" and "intellij.org" email addresses listed.

My guess is that these forums or the Intellij.org wiki have been scraped for email addresses by spammers recently. In response, I've now entered an invalid email address for my forum account.

Could the Intellij crew please do a little housekeeping in order to keep people's emails undisclosed in the forums and on the wiki? This isn't hard, as most other forums and wiki sites do this to prevent spamming. The other option is that users of these resources must register invalid email addresses in order to not get spammed.

Unfortunately I must agree on this point. 80% of my spam is sent to the
email address I provided here in the past. Not a good reputation for
Jetbrains.

Showstopper: "TMDA currently runs only on UNIX-based systems" :(

If you're looking for a spam filter, Mozilla Thunderbird filters practically all of my spam out. It misses one or two per month, and I get about 30-50 a day.

Keith, I'm using Thunderbird in conjunction with Spamihilator, but this
is just a work-around. Making the email-addresses publicly available at
IntelliJ's forums is the root of this evil.

There is an option on your forum settings/profile "Email address visible
to others" - does setting this as "no" not do what you want? (I think
it's set as yes by default)

Of course this is shutting the door after the horse has bolted to some
extent but might help for the future...

This option only works when you use the webfrontend, but not when you
use a news client.

Unfortunately - no way to hide your email in news messages, because you
provide it yourself by your news client.
I'll check our Forums-News gate, if it provides hidden email into news
messages - it's a bug in the Forums software.

I've found a bug in the TWiki that allows spammers to see emails if you
registers on TWiki.
They was available if you do the search of pages.
Currently I've fixed TWiki's code, so emails should not be accessible.
