Any plan to develop a set of custom components?

It would be cool to provide a set of custom components:

E.g application UI framework, dockable menu bars, outlook bar, file-tree panel, wizards...

Or start an independent project to develop these things~

At the current moment we have no such plans.

Since JetBrains have said they'll support user-defined components on the toolbar, custom components could be a great new area for plugins to thrive.

As i can see looking on UIdesigner toolbar - it now as tabbed pane. So, i
guess, JetBrains do it for additional components sets, and maybe for user
defined so.

So go ahead and do it! If you make it open source, you may get people
contributing and it could grow into something really big; you never know.
This doesn't really have anything to do with IDEA though.

Yes, and I did have such plan before - I mean making i opensource. However, I think I am not an experienced candidate as a swing developer.

Also, making such open source project success cannot only rely on technical skill, but also marketing/advertising...

So that's why I propose such plan -> if Jet Brain staffs / IDEA-developers make it, it will become a popular toolkit, or even a standard library.

If you are genuinely interested in doing something like that, then it's
probably a good idea to find an existing opensource project for developing a
custom component library and see how you can contribute to that. That way
you'll be learning about Swing, learning good development practices and also
achieving your original goal. Just a suggestion, anyway. :)

I'm not so sure about that. Borland have been bundling some additional GUI
class libraries with JBuilder for ages now and none of those seems to have
achieved any significant market penetration (as far as I can tell, anyway).

Personally, I'd rather have JetBrains continue to concentrate on IDEA. There
are already plenty of custom Swing component libraries out there, but only
one IDE which lets me develop with pleasure... ;)
