Search & Replace Html nodes by Xpath

I've searched through the documentation but  found no facility which would permit me to select unique html nodes, across a project, and either remove or replace them(from 500+ documents).
I know its possible to generate unique xpaths and search for them.

Just wanted to make sure I'm not mistaken in this conclusion, as my knowledge of XML related standards and techniques is relatively minor.
