Invalid JDK Home

I'm new to Java and newer to IntelliJ. I've downloaded an evaluation copy
but am unable to configure a target JDK. No matter which directory I select
I get the message:

"The directory selected is not a valid JDK home"

I've tried the JRE that installs with IntelliJ as well as the j2re1.4.1_01
directories.

I can compile from the command line and my test applet has loaded so Java
appears to be installed correctly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

As it says, it wants a full JDK (development kit), not a JRE (runtime
environment). If you haven't installed one already, you'll have to
download and install one from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1 now.

Unfortunately, that link goes to the run-time version. The page says SDK,
but when it installs it's the run-time.

I've temporarily solved the problem by installing the SunONE community
edition - that includes the 1.4.1 sdk.

Sheesh. :)

Thanks, though.

If you click the orange "Download J2SE v1.4.1_01 now" link, the next web
page contains two columns of links, for the JRE and for the SDK. Are
you saying these links are broken or did you click the wrong link? (I've
clicked a link in the wrong column myself a couple of times...)

I did exactly as you suspected. Grabbed the download from the JRE column and
missed the SDK one. Was having a lame day, I think. :)

Thanks.
