Unable to get Live Edit working

Hi,

I just downloaded a trial of WebStorm 5.0.4 for the Mac, and set up a project with an existing website on an FTP server. I then tried to enable the Live Edit functionality (installing the Chrome extension and checking the two checkboxes under the IDE Settings).

The first issue is that when I'm editing a local copy of an HTML file and I select View -> Web Preview and select Chrome, the browser opens the page on the server and not the local copy. It does, however, highlight the section of the page that I am editing in real time. This real-time highlighting also works if I manually open the local copy of the HTML file in Chrome.

The second issue is that while the section of the page I am editing in WebStorm is highlighted in Chrome in real time, the actual changes I make are not automatically reflected in Chrome (I would have to manually refresh the page in Chrome).

Perhaps I missed some steps in the setup process, or am using the feature incorrectly?

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

"View -> Web Preview and select Chrome, the browser opens the page on the server and not the local copy" It is correct, deployment server is configured, right? Hold "shift" to open local file instead of remote.

Second issue — please try WebStorm 6 RC http://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/WI/WebStorm+6+EAP (new extension is available https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jetbrains-ide-support/hmhgeddbohgjknpmjagkdomcpobmllji compatible only with WebStorm 6).

Thank you very much for your quick response Vladimir, I now have it working under WebStorm 6 RC and the new Chrome extension! And thank you for the tip on holding down Shift to load the local file!

Best regards,
Susumu
