WebStorm 5.0.4 - Why is messages window disabled? what is it for? how to use it ?

I have this window disabled and I can't open it at all. I assume it is for errors warning etc, but I can't be sure cause I can't open it.
If I am correnct it shows errors and warning that would be really nice cause now I have to track them file by file which is annoying.

Can anyone please let me know how to enable it and use it?

Hi, suddenly this Messages option is completely gone. It was located here and was greyed out: View -> Tool Windows -> Messages (Alt + 0). What's this about ?

P.S. This case seems just like this guy here complains -> http://devnet.jetbrains.net/message/5304666#5304666. If by Messages should open up when you build and have erros you mean -> I run my index.html with a syntax error = nothing happens, no Messages view no error no anything except that little red indicator in the code editor which I see even before I run/debug the app... Any thoughts ?

And also sorry for the off topic question, but this should be an easy answer for you too so I will ask - I have a folder in my project with the jQuery min library and the inspect code give like 700 errors for it. I'm guessing I must exclude this file from inspecting somehow, but what's the right way to do it? Sorry for the stupid questions, I am very new! :)

Hi there,

This "Messages" tool window does not really apply to WebStorm, especially when you "I run my index.html" -- these are 2 different things.

What you are interested is available at  "Code | Inspect Code..." or "Code | Run Inspection by Name..." (first one will use all enabled inspections while second one will check for specific inspection only.

OK thanks, it was bugging me why it is there and I thought that syntax errors should be displayed in it. I guess it's for something else then.

Since you already mentioned that Inspect Code is the tool for error checking could you please tell me how to stop Inspect code from inspecting certain files. As I've mentioned in a post above - I've put the jQuery minified library in a local project folder and when I inspect code the whole project it gives me many many errors. How do I prevent that from happening ?

Thanks in advance!

I think (although no 100% guarantee) if you add it to the Library, it will be excluded from error checks: Settings | JavaScript | Libraries

You can check blog for an article on how to use JS Libraries functionality: http://blogs.jetbrains.com/webide/
