Updating Phpstorm from 3.0 to 3.03 in linux

Quick question - is it necessary to download and install the complete new version?  When I click "Download" on the alert, it brings me to the page to download the entire app.  Seems kinda like overkill.

Hi Kevin,

Yes -- patches are issued to upgrade between subsequent releases only (3.0.0 -> 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2 -> 3.0.3). In all other cases full download is required.

If you have missed or skipped such subsequent release then full app download only is your only option.

Ah, okay.  Makes sense.  Is there an easy way for me to keep my settings the same after a full update?

They should not change -- you are not performing any major upgrade. But in case you are worry -- backup your ~/.WebIde10/config folder.

You are on Linux .. so manual upgrade is as follow: 1) remove old PhpStorm (delete files) 2) Extract tar.gz archive into empty folder 3) Start using it

P.S.
Upcoming v4 will store settings in new folder ~/.WebIde40/config
