Deploy only files under version control

Hi,

is there any reason why files that aren't under version control get deployed? That behavior doesn't make any sense to me. Who want to deploy the configuration files and stuff, that is configured to be ignored by the VCS?
i know there is an option "Exclude items by name". But it's annoying if you've to configure the ignored files twice.
Is it possible to configure the "Exclude items by name" to create a folder if it doesn't exist, but don't deploy the files in it? for example a cache folder, that should be created, but the cachefiles in it shouldn't get deployed.

Is there any solution for that problem?

It would be nice if it remembers the revision of the last deployment, then exports all files, that changed between that and the HEAD revision. And then deploy the exported files.

Believe it or not, you are the first customer who asked for this feature. Can you please submit a feature request at http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issues/WI#newissue=yes? Thanks!

Nope, this is not supported right now. Feature request is also welcome. By the way, please take a look at related ticket: http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/WI-3762.

Hurm, maybe everyone else has a single configuration file, which they add to ignore list. Only use memcache and not a filecache to cache stuff. And store files and images uploaded by users in the database instead of the filesystem. In other cases i really can't imagine how the deployment feature could be used.
Can you explain me, how the deployment feature is meant to be used? Maybe it's my fault, that i expect the wrong things.

I think, that no one else has that problem decreases the priority of the feature request. So i should really search for a good workaround.
Maybe just exporting the whole project to a directory and let filezilla care about the sync.

Hello Christoph,

Feature request is submitted

Thanks!

Typically you configure one or more deployment mappings (at File | Settings | Deployment | (your server) | Mappings tab) that define which local folders to sync and where. 'Exclude items by name' option allows to exclude certain items (e.g. .svn) from upload.
