Where is the "Synchronisation Manager" (i came from Aptana)

Hi there,

currently i try the Trial-Version of PhpStorm. PhpStorm looks very promising - i came from Aptana and have some questions before i switch.

1. is it possible to have a piano key view in the codeview. Every 2nd row have a alternative background color?
2. Where is the Synchronisation Manager? I search for a way to sync my complete local project with the remote site (SVN and normal mounted filesystem)
3. In the project window i have some files with a red underline. Is this the spellchecking?  Where can i get additional dictionaries?
4. On Windows the performance is slow - on mac it is really fast. Why so slow on Windows?
5. Is there a printable manual (pdf?) available?
6. How can is set additional key shortcuts for upload to deployment and others?

Hello Dumbledore,

Let me answer some of the questions.

2. Where is the Synchronisation Manager? I search for a way to sync my complete local project with the remote site (SVN and normal mounted filesystem)

First, ensure SVN and Remote Host Access plugins are enabled (File | Settings | Plugins)

If your project was checked from SVN (so '.svn' folders are in place), just open File | Settings | Version Control and choose Subversion for your project root folder. Then Changes view will help you lot.

To sync with mounted FS, open File | Settings | Deployment page and add a new 'Mounted folder' server and specify mounted root folder and URL. Then switch to 'Mappings' tab and enter deployment path and web path for your project.
Afterwards, use context menu actions to upload/download files and 'Remote host' tool window to browse remote files. You can find more details in screencast.

Currently there's no 'Sync manager', please vote for the feature request or submit a new one.

6. How can is set additional key shortcuts for upload to deployment and others?

Open File | Settings | Keymap dialog. Copy default scheme to the custom one. Then search for a specific action or find it manually (also you can add a single hotkey for a deployment quicklist).

Regards,
Kirill

Okay, I'll handle the rest:

1. is it possible to have a piano key view in the codeview. Every 2nd row have a alternative background color?

No.

3. In the project window i have some files with a red underline. Is this the spellchecking?  Where can i get additional dictionaries?

It's one of the code inspections giving the "error" level message. While spellchecker is one of them, but it'll never give such a severe message. Check the vertical scrollbar in the editor of this file for red inspector marks to get the details.

4. On Windows the performance is slow - on mac it is really fast. Why so slow on Windows?

It's hard to answer the question - we do not have any knowledge about windows version beeng significantly slower than windows on same hardware. Perhaps its the result of the state of your windows system. You may want to consult this guide: http://devnet.jetbrains.net/docs/DOC-192

5. Is there a printable manual (pdf?) available?

Nope. Only a keymap reference, check Help | Keymap..

ok, thanks for the answers...

yesterday i buy PhpStorm - it seems that is much better then Aptana...

In the moment i have only 2 problems:

1. When i try to install the jira-plugin it tells me "jsunit" not found. Ok, it is the plugin for IntelliJ Idea but PhpStorm is the same platform. How can i use the plugin?
2. Have the dictionaries a public format? Are there german-dictionaries available?

btw: i really miss the sync-manager. This will be a great enhancement to PhpStorm...

Jira plugin is not compatible with PhpStorm.

We don't provide any dictionaries except bundled ones now. You can easily supply your own though: dictionaries are just plain text line-separated lists of acceptable words. Beware of memory consumption when adding huge ones, though.

will jira work with the release version of PhpStorm 2.0?

Are there any known issues when working with svn? Sometimes i get an error and then i must do a complete new checkout.

Its a 3rd party plugin and you should ask the plugin authors. Basically now its compatible with IDEA only, due to use of some java-test-support-only stuff.

You can search open issues at http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issues/WI
