Latest Datagrip (2016.2) seems very sluggish on OSX (El Capitan retina macbook)

I recently upgraded to the 2016.2 release and was finding the UI very laggy, typing in an editor even had a noticeable delay, sort of like when you're typing on a laggy SSH connection. Scrolling was jerky and everything was pretty bleh.

Performance was similar to issues I had late last year which turned out to be related to Java 8 not really playing nice with Macs with retina displays, that issue was resolved by installing the Mac release of Java 6. However I noticed that in more recent versions of datagrip that problem seemed to be resolved even when using the bundled OpenJDK 8. So I tried fiddling with the JDKs again, trying older versions and what not, however the issue remained.

I eventually just downgraded to 2016.1 and my problems went away. I have noticed the 2016.1 is actually using the exact same openjdk release 1.8.0_76 as 2016.2 was using... so it seems likely that these performance issues are specific to that release of Datagrip.

Anyone else seeing this?

Datagrip peeps: what can I do to help diagnose the issue so you can fix? I was really looking forward to using the improved CSV importing of 2016.2 since that's something I do a lot!

Same here. 2016.2 is not useable on Mac. It seem to overflow JVM ma memory quite often and hangs/crashes. I'm also back on 2016.1

We fixed some performance problems in minor updates to 2016.2, so please check 2016.2.3
