Cannot connect or create SQLite Database on Ubuntu

Hi there,

I'm trying to use PyCharm 2016 (latest) on a Ubuntu Xenial Xerus System. (I'm quite new to Linux)

When I try to create or connect to a SQLite Database, PyCharm gives me this error message:

What can I do?

I figured out, that it might be the Sqlite Driver. If you run into similar problems, go to and download the latest Sqlite Driver (at least sqlite-jdbc- or even newer!) and add it to your Sqlite drivers.

To do so, download it from the link above and save the driver somewhere on your harddrive. Then start Pycharm and open up the Data Source Properties (View->Tool Windows->Database, then Alt+Return) On the left, there is a Driver list. Select Sqlite (Xerial) and add the downloaded file to the Driver files. Move the entry up to the top of the list! You may need to restart PyCharm. Et voilá: You can connect to Sqlite3 databases! Have fun.
