WebStorm using 25% CPU, indexing continuously...

I am on the 30day trial for WebStorm and so far this is the poorest experience I have had of any of the jetbrains IDEs I have used. I appear to be having the same problem that was reported on version 9 of the product. I have some background indexing process sucking up CPU and Memory. The other thread mentioned something about Gulp. I do have a gulp file at part of this project and am looking at the Gulp task as i navigate that code... I can comprehend no reason why any of this would be bringing this product to its knees. This is a bug.

please try taking CPU snapshots once the problem occurs - see https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207241235-Reporting-performance-problems for instructions. Also, what does your application look like - frameworks/build tools being used? How big is your project?
I'd suggest excluding all folders dynamically generated by build tools (Gulp, etc.) from your project (Mark directory as/Excluded). Other directories you don't need to get completion from (auxiliary node_modules, bower_components, etc.) can be excluded as well.
