AppCode files window (dimmed files and folders)

Answered

Let me first start with the obvious.

AppCode, for a commercial product, has by far, in leaps and bounds, thee WORST documentation on the planet.

And they've maintained that stellar record since the creation of the product, many versions ago.

Does anyone have a clue why ...

(1) I have dimmed files and folders in my tree, and what can I do about it.

(2) I have duplicated files and folders in my tree, and what can I do about it.

My project builds and runs perfectly fine in XCode, and builds (I haven't tried running), perfectly fine in AppCode, yet the Find results in AppCode always show me results from 2 identical files in 2 different places, which is really infuriating.    I've tried changing the scope in the Find dialog, but literally every single time I do a find, it resets itself back to "whole project" and once again shows me duplicates.

If you have the answers to these questions, you deserve a doubling in salary, and if I could give it to you, I absolutely would.

There are 2 view modes in the Project Tool window in AppCode: a) Project view which shows only files/groups of files included into the Xcode project b) Files view (which you are actually using). It shows all files and folders under the project root (the directory which contains xcodeproj files) + contents of some directories which are actually used by the project (DerivedSources for example). You are using Files mode and it looks like you have 2 same folders under the project root - one included in to the Xcode project and one not included. That's why the second folder is grayed out: it means that you actually have this folder under the project root directory, but contents of this folder are not included into the your xcode project.

Currently this behaviour is caused by the following: "Whole project" in AppCode means all files and folders under the project root, not only files and folders included into the Xcode project. It allows to search not only in source files, but also in documentation/any files under the project root. I agree that it's not clear and may be not convenient and here is the request for changing this behaviour.
